4. Privacy and cookies

The Remote Trip respects your privacy. Please have a look at our Privacy Notice and Cookie Policy for further information.

 5. International Travel

You are responsible for ensuring that you meet foreign entry requirements and that your travel documents, such as passports and visas (transit, business, tourist, and otherwise), are in order and any other foreign entry requirements are met. The Remote Trip has no special knowledge regarding foreign entry requirements or travel documents. We urge customers to review travel prohibitions, warnings, announcements, and advisories issued by the relevant governments prior to booking travel to international destinations.

Passport and Visa: You must consult the relevant Embassy or Consulate for this information. Requirements may change and you should check for up-to-date information before booking and departure. We accept no liability if you are refused entry onto a flight or into any country due to your failure to carry the correct and adequate passport, visa, or other travel documents required by any airline, authority, or country, including countries you may just be transiting through. This includes all stops made by the aircraft, even if you do not leave the aircraft or airport.

Health: Recommended inoculations for travel may change and you should consult your doctor for current recommendations before you depart. It is your responsibility to ensure that you meet all health entry requirements, obtain the recommended inoculations, take all recommended medication, and follow all medical advice in relation to your trip.

Insurance: Travel insurance is a vital part of your arrangements. We strongly recommend that you have taken out adequate insurance for the duration of your journey. Travel insurance is a mandatory element of some travel arrangements. Please note that various credit card companies offer limited levels of travel insurance, which may not be sufficient for international travel. Check with the credit card companies in order to obtain specific details of the cover.

6. Supplier Rules and Restrictions

Additional terms and conditions will apply to your reservation and purchase of travel—related goods and services that you select. Please read these additional terms and conditions issued by the Supplier carefully, which can be found on the Supplier’s website. You agree to abide by the terms and conditions of purchase imposed by any Supplier with whom you elect to deal, including, but not limited to, payment of all amounts when due and compliance with the Supplier’s rules and restrictions regarding availability and use of products or services. The products or services from your booking is only guaranteed once the purchase with the Supplier has been completed and the confirmation email has been issued. Suppliers may change their prices without notice. We reserve the right to cancel your booking if full payment is not received in a timely fashion.

You acknowledge that some third-party Suppliers offering certain services and/or activities may require you to sign their liability waiver prior to participating in the service and/or activity they offer. You understand that any violation of any such Supplier’s rules and restrictions may result in cancellation of your reservation(s), in your being denied access to the applicable travel product or services, in your forfeiting any monies paid for such reservation(s), and/or in our debiting your account for any costs we incur as a result of such violation.

7. Prepaid Supplier Reservations

You acknowledge that The Remote Trip pre-negotiate certain rates with Suppliers to facilitate the booking of reservations. You also acknowledge that The Remote Trip provide you Services to facilitate such booking of reservations for a consideration (the “facilitation fee”). The rates displayed on the Website is a combination of the pre-negotiated rates for the travel-related services or products reserved on your behalf by The Remote Trip and the facilitation fee retained by The Remote Trip for their Services. You authorize The Remote Trip to book reservations for the total reservation price, which includes the rates displayed on the Website, plus tax recovery charges, service fees, and where applicable, taxes on The Remote Trip’s services. You agree that your debit or credit card will be charged The Remote Trip for the total reservation price. Upon submitting your reservation request you authorize The Remote Trip to facilitate reservations on your behalf, including making payment arrangements with the Suppliers.

You acknowledge that except as provided below with respect to tax obligations on the amounts we retain for our Service, The Remote Trip do not collect taxes for remittance to applicable taxing authorities. The tax recovery charges on prepaid Supplier transactions are a recovery of the estimated taxes (e.g. sales and use, occupancy, room tax, excise tax, value added tax, etc.) that The Remote Trip pay to the Supplier for taxes due on the concerned serviced. Suppliers invoice The Remote Trip for certain charges, including tax amounts. Suppliers are responsible for remitting applicable taxes to the applicable taxing jurisdictions. The Remote Trip does not act as co-vendor with the Supplier with whom we book or reserve our customer’s travel arrangements. Taxability and the appropriate tax rate vary greatly by location. The actual tax amounts paid by The Remote Trip to the Suppliers may vary from the tax recovery charge amounts, depending upon the rates, taxability, etc. in effect at the time of the actual use of the travel-related products or services by our customers. We retain service fees as additional compensation in servicing your travel reservation. Service fees retained by The Remote Trip for their services vary based on the amount and type of booking.

8. Booking limitations, additional expenses,  cancellations & refunds

You may not book reservations for more than 6 rooms online for the same hotel/stay dates. If we determine that you have booked reservations for more than 6 rooms in total in separate reservations, we may cancel your reservations, and charge you a cancellation fee, if applicable. If you wish to book reservations for 7 or more rooms, please contact us by email via [email protected] One of our group travel specialists will research your request and contact you to complete your reservation. You may be asked to sign a written contract and/or pay a non-refundable deposit.

Prior to making a purchase on our Platform, please keep in mind that all of our products and services promoted on our Website are non-cancelable and non-refundable, unless otherwise stated on our Platform.

Some Suppliers may require you to present a credit card, passport, or cash deposit upon check-in to cover additional expenses incurred during your stay. Such deposit is unrelated to any payment received by The Remote Trip for your booking. E.g. prices  on our website may exclude deposits, water, gas, electricity, and cancellation fees to be charged by the Supplier.

Obvious errors and mistakes (including misprints) are not binding.

All special offers and promotions are marked as such.

9. Bank and credit card fees

Some banks and credit card companies impose fees for international transactions. If you are making a booking in a currency other than the EUR, your bank may convert the payment amount to your local currency and charge you a conversion fee. This means the amount listed on your credit or bank card statement may be in your local currency and therefore a different figure than the figure shown on the billing summary page for a reservation booked on the Website. In addition, a foreign transaction fee may be assessed depending on your bank. The currency exchange rate and foreign transaction fee is determined solely by your bank on the day that they process the transaction. If you have any questions about these fees or the exchange rate applied to your booking, please contact your bank.

10. Scope of our service

Through the Platform, we (The Remote Trip and its affiliate (distribution) partners) provide an online platform through which we advertise selected (digital) products and services, including but not limited to ebooks, online courses, and trips from third-party Suppliers, for reservation (purchase), and through which visitors of the Platform can make such reservations (i.e. the reservation service). By making a reservation for a trip through The Remote Trip, you enter into a direct (legally binding) contractual relationship with the Supplier with whom you make a reservation or purchase a product or service (as applicable). From the point at which you make your reservation, we act solely as an intermediary between you and the Supplier, transmitting the details of your reservation to the relevant Supplier(s) and sending you a confirmation email for and on behalf of the Supplier.

When rendering our Service, the information that we disclose is based on the information provided to us by Suppliers. Although we will use reasonable skill and care in performing our Service, we will not verify if, and cannot guarantee that, all information is accurate, complete or correct, nor can we be held responsible for any errors (including manifest and typographical errors), any interruptions (whether due to any (temporary and/or partial) breakdown, repair, upgrade or maintenance of our Platform or otherwise), inaccurate, misleading or untrue information or non-delivery of information. Each Supplier remains responsible at all times for the accuracy, completeness and correctness of the (descriptive) information (including the rates and availability) displayed on our Platform by informing us via email.

Our Service is made available for personal and non-commercial use only. Therefore, you are not allowed to re-sell, deep-link, use, copy, monitor (e.g. spider, scrape), display, download or reproduce any content or information, software, reservations, tickets, products or services available on our Platform for any commercial or competitive activity or purpose.

11. Pre-payment, cancellation, no-show and fine print

By making a reservation on our Platform, you accept and agree to the relevant cancellation and no-show policy of the Services, and to any additional (delivery) terms and conditions of the Supplier that may apply to your visit or stay, including for services rendered and/or products offered by the accommodation provider (the delivery terms and conditions of an accommodation provider can be obtained with the relevant accommodation provider). The general cancellation and no-show policy of each Supplier is made available on our Platform on the Supplier information pages, during the reservation procedure and in the confirmation email or ticket (if applicable). Please note that certain rates or special offers are not eligible for cancellation or change. Applicable city/tourist tax may still be charged by the Supplier in the event of a no-show or charged cancellation. Please check the (reservation) details of your product or service of choice thoroughly for any such conditions prior to making your reservation. Please note that a reservation which requires down payment or (wholly or partly) prepayment may be cancelled (without a prior notice of default or warning) insofar the relevant (remaining) amount(s) cannot be collected in full on the relevant payment date in accordance with the relevant payment policy of the Supplier and the reservation. Cancellation and prepayment policies may vary according to product and service type. Please carefully read the fine print (on the product page on our Platform) and important information in your reservation confirmation for additional policies as may be applied by the Supplier (e.g. in respect of age requirement, security deposit, non-cancellation/additional supplements for group bookings, extra beds/no free breakfast, pets/cards accepted). Late payment, wrong bank, debit or credit card details, invalid credit/debit cards or insufficient funds are for your own risk and account and you shall not be entitled to any refund of any (non-refundable) prepaid amount unless the Supplier agrees or allows otherwise under its (pre)payment and cancellation policy.

If you wish to review, adjust or cancel your reservation, please revert to the confirmation email and follow the instructions therein. Please note that you may be charged for your cancellation in accordance with the accommodation provider’s cancellation, (pre)payment and no-show policy or not be entitled to any repayment of any (pre)paid amount. We recommend that you read the cancellation, (pre)payment and no-show policy of the accommodation provider carefully prior to making your reservation and remember to make further payments on time as may be required for the relevant reservation.

If you have a late or delayed arrival on the check-in date or only arrive the next day, make sure to (timely/promptly) communicate this with the Supplier so they know when to expect you to avoid cancellation of your reservation or room or charge of the no-show fee. Our customer service department can help you if needed with informing the Supplier. The Remote Trip does not accept any liability or responsibility for the consequences of your delayed arrival or any cancellation or charged no-show fee by the Supplier.

12. (Further) correspondence and communication

By completing a purchase on our Site, you agree to receive several follow-up emails, including but not limited to (i) the confirmation of your purchase, (ii) follow-up emails with more information about your purchased (digital) product or service  (iii) an email which we may send you prior to your arrival date (in case of our trips), giving you information on your destination and providing you with certain information and offers (including third party offers to the extent that you have actively opted in for this information) relevant to your reservation and destination, and (iv) an email in which we may ask you to complete our review form. Please see our privacy and cookies policy for more information about how we may contact you.

The Remote Trip disclaims any liability or responsibility for any communication with the Supplier on or through its platform. You cannot derive any rights from any request to, or communication with the Supplier or (any form of) acknowledgement of receipt of any communication or request. The Remote Trip cannot guarantee that any request or communication will be (duly and timely) received/read by, complied with, executed or accepted by the Supplier.

In order to duly complete and secure your reservation, you need to use your correct email address. We are not responsible or liable for (and have no obligation to verify) any wrong or misspelled email address or inaccurate or wrong (mobile) phone number or credit card number.

Any claim or complaint against The Remote Trip or in respect of the Service must be promptly submitted, but in any event within 30 days after the scheduled day of consummation of the product or service (e.g. end-date of online courses, date of receiving (digital) products, check out date, etc.). Any claim or complaint that is submitted after the 30 days period, may be rejected and the claimant shall forfeit its right to any (damage or cost) compensation.
